Star P38 Lightning 615 Twin Cam Camshaft — .615 Lift
The next step up from the legendary Torkstar 577 — higher lift, broader application, and built for Twin Cam engines that are ready to perform.
Part Description
The Star P38 Lightning is the natural progression for riders who want a step up from the Torkstar 577 and are ready for more. Designed for chain-drive 2007-and-up Twin Cam engines, the P38 delivers .615" lift across a wide range of displacement combinations — from 103 cubic inch all the way up to 117 cubic inch piston kit builds. Whether you're running a mild street build or a serious big-bore kit, the P38 Lightning is engineered to extract strong, reliable performance from your Twin Cam engine. Before installation, verify that your existing valve springs are rated to handle up to .620" lift — spring capability is the key installation consideration for this cam. Recommended install with Star 655 Lift Spring Kit (TC20-20350).
**Please note that we cannot ship cams to California.**

Fitment and Install Notes
| Engine | Years | Valve Springs | Lifter Guides |
|---|---|---|---|
| TC 103 - 117 cubic inch engines | 2007+ | TC20-20350 recommended | Stock |
Spring verification required — existing valve springs must be rated to handle up to .620 lift before installation. Upgrade springs if current springs do not meet this requirement. Star recommends TC20-20350.
Push Rods and Lifters can be stock.
Exhaust pairing matters: Star Cams will perform with all pipe configurations, but exhaust selection has a meaningful impact on results. Short exhaust systems create sound wave differentials that negatively affect low-RPM tune quality — a condition that cannot be fully corrected through tuning alone. For the smoothest low-end torque curve, a long 2-into-1 exhaust is strongly recommended. Trusted options include D&D, Fuel Moto, Bassani, ThunderHeader, and Krome Werks.
Professional tuning recommended for best results.
